Summer 2014 Lessons Registering Now

This summer, classes include Fantasy Art and Drawing Animals. (See class descriptions below.) Lessons are once a week for an hour and a half. Tuition for each four-week class is $50 and includes materials. Choose from two sessions of four weeks each, or join us for both sessions:

Session 1: Weeks of June 16 – July 11
Session 2: Weeks of July 21 – August 8

Fantasy Art

Design a unique fantasy creature, and illustrate it in detailed pen and ink with colored washes. Then learn how to make imaginary spaces feel more real as you create and draw a fantasy landscape. You’ll gain inspiration by looking at fantasy works by book illustrators and fine artists from history.

Drawing Animals

Learn how to draw animals in action, and create a portrait of a pet or other favorite animal. See how historical artists and illustrators working in many styles, from cartoon to realistic, have given their animals a sense of movement and personality.

Welcome

Do you like to draw and create, but sometimes wonder how to get what you see in your head onto the paper? Do you wish you could try some of the materials and techniques professional artists use? Then these lessons are for you.

You’ll meet once a week in a small group of six or fewer, with individual attention from a professional artist. Projects will help you learn to see like an artist, use materials skillfully, and find your own original ideas. You’ll also have the chance to show your best work online and occasionally in community exhibits.
